I hate applique! I cannot imagine I would have the patience for it … which is exactly the reason why I have to win this book. I might learn something new. It’s a book I would never purchase on my own.

I’ve never done applique, so I don’t know if I like it or not. My grandmother was a fan of it, and I have a lovely quilt that she made for me. I wish she was still around to teach me how to do it. BUT I am of the firm opinion that Mark has some of the bluest eyes I’ve seen in a very long time!

There is just so much more for the money in magazine subscriptions, and even those I’ve let drop because of the info on the net for free everywhere. I do need to improve my applique…i’ve been wanting to set myself up a hand project for the summer time heat when being in the sewing room is too stuffy. THis might do nicely all around.

I’ve been quilting for almost 10 years and have been enjoying it up until now, when my formerly mostly non-verbal grandbabies loved everything I threw their way. NOW, they have specific ideas, i.e., “Luke(3 yr old twin): Grandma, I need a rocket ship and stars on a pillowcase.” ‘
‘Trip( 3 yr old identical twin): Well Grandma, I HAVE to have a rocket ship with stars and a moon on a pillowcase.” Ok? They blindsided their Grandma: “Mairin (5 yr old older sister): Grandma I really, really, really, NEED a pillowcase with a PINK rocket ship on it, and some flowers, a sun, and of course we have to have a butterfly, right grandma? Grandma, I HAVE to HAVE it – I need things. Grandma doesn’t really know how to do applique. Is there a 12 step program? Would this book light the way for my needy, yet deserving, grandbabies? Could Grandma one day become an applique heroine?
