License to Quilt

When I was leaving the Quilter’s Unlimited show in Chantilly, Virginia the other day, I noticed  something that I had never seen at another quilt show.  As I walked to my car, I noticed a lot of personalized license plates.   Now, don’t forget this is the last hour of the last day of the show so the parking lot wasn’t very full but I walked around the lot and snapped pics of some of the plates I saw (including my own).

Take a look . . .

This car was parked next to mine!

QLTNCLR —isn’t that “Quilt IN Color” ?

Quiltville? Was Bonnie Hunter there? She has quiltville.com and is from NC. (I see that “First in Flight” on the tag!)

    Love the tags!

Bonnie Hunter is a great gal! The Pineapple Blossom workshop in Newtown, PA was SEW much fun—I used up all the scraps I had left after sending a stuffed boot-box full to my friend the Truckin’ Quilter, Nancy. Named the quilt Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It was supposed to be an auction benefit quilt for our son’s church in CO but I’m having a hard time parting with it. And next Monday I will be sharing the technique with my Bee! (we are going to make a quilt to benefit the senior center in Ambler, PA–all in teal-aqua-green with RED for the “lights”)

The DAWG . . the license is from James Madison University.. the JMU Bull Dogs. Virginia has more college license plates than anywhere I’ve lived or traveled.

My guess was a college with bulldog as mascot. It is probably an alum of James Madison, Class of ‘76.

My guess was Quilt Nuclear, but I couldn’t quite imagine what that would be. Quilt in Color makes so much more sense, plus it just seems safer somehow.

The TX Quilter is a Maryland plate .. just someone who has been transplanted who is proud of their heritage (once a Texan, always a Texan) .
