These books came in the mail yesterday (from Martingale).
I’m particuliarly interested in the Points of View, Landscape Quilts to Stitch and Embellish by Valerie Hearder. While there are some very nice projects in the book, I’m thinking that this book is really about technique and inspiration — which is EXCELLENT. You’ll have to take a look at it at your local shop.
The Pickles were talking about their quilting spaces about a month ago and look at the book that Martingale just put out! It’s an 8-page planner. That has wipe-off ability so you can move your furniture around, etc.
Looks like I’ll have zero excuse for sewing in a messy room from now on. That said, $12.95 for this little leaflet is jaw-dropping astounding. I love me my Martingale but holy-moly what were they thinking when they were pricing this one?
I LOVE this book for fast, easy, kiddie quilts. Your “she’s having a baby” quilt planning angst is O-V-E-R!
Fig Tree Quilts, Houses by Joanna Figueroa and Lisa Quan. Nice book. Great concept. BUT ver-r-r-r-r-r-r-y traditional. So what’s wrong with that? I like it! Oh, and the little sampler on page 48 IS FABULOUS!
Lookie, lookie what Clover sent! It’s their Nouveau Smocking Technique. It makes smocking EASY….just like their fab-o yo-yo makers! They are stickers that you place on the fabric and then just stitch in numerical order! Can’t get much easier than that!
I’m so behind on the magazine — later dudes! xooxm

Carla Barrett (http://featheredfibers.wordpress.com) said that I must check out your website and blog. I love the opening page of the site! Enjoyed the book review, and I’ll probably have to buy Point of View now, thank you very much. Like I need to spend more money! I also want to say that your new fabric line is yumlicious!

Sandi, it’s high. It’s very high! Come on, a leaflet should be what, $3 max. This does sound like a little more than just a leaflet tho since you can reuse it with wipe-off pages, but even at that, I’d say $8 would be the most I’d pay. Guess I’m cheap.
When I come over again, Mark, I want to hear those chickens running around me going, “Cheep, cheep, cheep”!!!

Mark, you are such a tease…. you post several blog posts per day, then you leave us hanging by NOT posting for over a month!
Do dish about Houston… how did your new collection go?
