I am very proud to announce that I have been elected to the Board of Directors for
The Alliance for American Quilts
The Alliance for American Quilts is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to document, preserve, and share our American quilt heritage by collecting the rich stories that historic and contemporary quilts, and their makers, tell about our nation’s diverse peoples and their communities.
In support of this mission, the Alliance brings together quilt makers and designers, the quilt industry, quilt scholars and teachers, and quilt collectors to further the following goals:
-
to promote the understanding of the quilt as an important American grassroots art form
-
to make information about quilts available to a broad public
-
to educate Americans about the importance of documenting quilts and quiltmakers so that their stories will not be lost.
You’ll be hearing a lot about this organization over the next several months.

Congrats. just thought I would mention an amazing book I read years ago in case you are not aware of it. HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW It tells the amazing story of how slaves fashioned escape route maps into their quilts to help each other escape. Fascinating…
Good luck with your new position! xoxox

There’s a wealth of information here. Thanks! I’ll be back for more. finding your way around this mess is complicated by the fact that several of these far East airlines don’t have English websites – possibly, it’ll make the tickets a penny cheaper, if they don’t spend any on a translator. You always have Google Translator though.
