After watching a video on it, I am not sure which weight to use. It is a winter scene and can just picture it in the varigated blue. I would love to try it and am sure if it is as great as the comments here, I will only just be starting my collection.

I stock up when I am at my favorite retreat. However one can always use more thread!!!! As many quilts as I make, I need all the thread I can get to with Mark’s fabric lines which I am collecting rather rapidly. Have a nice Easter everyone.

Aurifil is the BEST thread for piecing. I love that I can get so many yards on a bobbin that I don’t have to keep changing bobbins, and that it isn’t linty. I don’t have to keep blowing out the bobbin area of my sewing machine. Great thread.

Far more money than I expected, but worth every penny. I now have a great collection for applique. I was just telling a neighbor to try a spool, when she asked how much a spool costed and I told her, she was going, OMG, how expensive! Not really, look how much thread is on a spool and how long it lasts, plus it’s not fuzzy, that fuzz doesn’t build up under my bobbins like others. It’s the best! I don’t sew with anything but aurifil. I’m so glad to see you sponsoring such a great product Mark.

Aurifil has been my only piecing thread for quite a few years. My old 830E Bernina loves it! And I love the ability to fill the bobbin and have it last longer…Since my only use has been for piecing, I’m looking forward to using it for quilting next. The color choices available makes it the perfect match for whatever type of quilting/sewing/piecing you are doing, no need to worry if you can match the thread with the fabrics. The variegated threads intrigue me, I’d like to try them. A top-notch product if you ask me!

Not only is it the best but when you calulate your cost per yard it is a very good buy. I love not having to rewind bobbims all the time. I do very pointy piecing and I love how little space it takes up in a seam.

Mark, I would love to win Aurifil threads. I’m working on Improving my machine quilting and appliqué and have found that great thread is essential to quality work. I live in a area that has lost two local quilt shops this year. It’s getting harder to find supplies. What would you suggest as a starter collection of Aurigil?

Listen, I know this sounds odd, but I’d go for broke and spring for my ULTIMATE collection. I PROMISE you that once you start using this thread you won’t be satisfied with any other (not that their aren’t good threads out there, but none have equaled my overall experience with Aurifil and I’m not BSing here). The Ultimate collection has all of my piecing thread basics plus all of my quilting thread basics. If you don’t actually machine quilt yourself, and only piece, start with my Basics collection. xoxom

I love using Aurifil in mu home machine and in my Gammill longarm. This thread is super strong for a cotton and low profile on the surface for subtle quilting. It’s always my first choice for paper piecing. It really is the best thread to use for any quilting project.

I bought a spool of some gray Aurifil thread in early November. It was pricey, about $10 but I have pieced a very large king size quilt with it (126″ by 102″) and numerous other smaller projects. I am still using this same spool of thread six months later! So in light of that, I don’t think it really is pricey.

I have found that I don’t need to sew a scant quarter inch seam with this thread because it is so much thinner than the other 50 wt. thread I was using. It is a little harder to rip out because the thread just sinks nicely into the fabric, but I don’t really see this as a negative.

I’d love to win some more!

Aurafil is one of my favorite neutral threads. I haven’t tried any of their varigated ones though. I do have a thicker weight that is fun for top stitching but I have it only in white.

I need to get a quilt done before July for my 4-H project. I have made 3 quilts and I am only 14years old. The ladies at the local quilt shop get a kick out of me since they think it is so cool that a boy would like to sew. So one of your collection would be awesome to use to complete my project for fair as I want it to win a purple ribbon so it will go to state. Thanks!

    Hi, Mark!!
*Thank you!*, Mark, for your answer to Ruth’s questions (post #221)… !
Just what I, too, wanted to know…
I’m hoping I will be one of your lucky ones to receive (my first!) Aurifil thread… As I’m learning and growing in my new quilting skills, I’m still using up the thread stash I inherited from my mom… but I have a new friend (a long-time quilter) who keeps telling me that ONCE I try AURIFIL, I’ll be looking for ways to get rid of/unload all my old thread!
(Favorite Spring-time and “green/enviro-friendly” suggestion for threads other than Aurifil ???… unspooling it, and setting gobs out for the birds to collect for their nests!!… and, Suggestion #6… unspooling and using for new doggy bed filler/!!)
    Blessings, Mark!!
    Hugs!…
    Pat

    Mark,
I love AUrifil, and it’s what I keep in my machine all the time. I usually use the basics for piecing (top and bobbin) and then change to the beautiful color selections for quilting and embelishment. I think it feels like butter going across my fingers and through the cloth. I love it.
