Mark on Beating Your Creative Insecurities

Sometimes you’re creatively hot where everything you touch and produce is inspired and interesting, your work is golden and every vision you put imagine flows into place flawlessly and easily.  Then, for no apparent reason there are hours, days, weeks, months, and years when you’re just off your game with nothing, but nothing coming together no matter the effort and internal burning passion.  It’s not that you’re at a lack for ideas, inspiration or motivation — it’s all still there — but doesn’t seem to be translating from your creative thought into action, from your head to your hands.

Don’t let this dictate, even for a second, who you are as an artist, a visionary, a creative.  Never allow these moments to reinforce your insecurities.  Your creative struggles, ebbs and flows, wins and losses are each yours, and uniquely yours, to experience, to hold onto, and learn from.

Stay breathing. Continue creating. Persevere with work. Jump into play. Dancing through your creative struggles may not always lead to the classic ballet you had imagined as your venerated result, but sometimes what emerges is a spirited colorful jitterbug.

I hope you enjoy my creative thoughts for hobbyists and crafters.  I post new blog thought entries every Monday, Tuesday, Thrusday, and Friday.  Wednesday’s are reserved for Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski’s guests and new creative personalities that you’ll want to know and learn about.  Of course, I sprinkle things happening on Pickle Road throughout the week.

I invite you to subscribe to this blog by clicking  the button on the left side of this post.  Also, why not share my posts with your creative friends and co-workers by clicking on any of  the share links?  If something really resonates with you, print it out and tack it to your bulletin board or tape it to the wall of your creative space, sewing or craft room as a gentle reminder that you can re-read!

As always, I love to hear about your creative life, wins and challenges!  Leave a comment here or email me at CreativeMojo@me.com.  Thursday is a wonderful day to being your jitterbug moment.  And always do what you love! xoxom

Hey Mark! I’m just coming out of a year of “lethargy” and finding that this summer, so far, has been one of those delightful creative times where everything seems possible, ideas are flowing, and I want there to be more hours in the day or to be able to sleep less so that I can pursue all the places the creative juices are taking me. A long walk with my dog in the mornings before I get started has been key!

That arrow hit the mark, Mark.

Can you put a Facebook “share” button on these creativity posts? I think what you are saying goes beyond crafting and into the entirety of my life.

    Thanks with love as always.

Love the graphic and the words! I’m trying so hard to be productive, when some days all I want to do is sit and watch bad TV. I think I let myself get too overwhelmed by too many things I want to do. But, that was another post, wasn’t it? Love you, King of the Pickles! J

I absolutely love my quilting and gardening hobbies. But I need something new and exciting. I think the book making is just the thing! I need to read a couple new books I got on the subject and then just PLAY!!
