Mark on Charging into the Creative Unknown

Creativity is like pouring water from a pitcher.  You might direct the flow but the outcome of where that water may spill will never be exactly the same, nor could you even try to predict the precise direction of the stream.

That’s why as take your first stitch, paint your first stroke, throw your new  pot, tile your mosaic, it is important that you charge forward into the unknown.   Yes, you will have some kind of vision, a plan, as to where and how you would like to direct your creative energy in the completion of your project, but it is the watery, liquid-y, form of delicious creativity, if you remain open to it and trust it, that will be your unconscious and intuitive guide that will take you beyond your first imaginations and move you into the open fluidity of your creative soul.

Throw caution to the wind with the confidence of other like-minded artists and crafters.  Learn to “feel” your projects rather that “make” your projects.  Don’t be afraid to embrace and play with the very creativity that you claim to possess.  Never create in fear and apprehension.

So true! Often the unpredictable ends up the best part of one’s work!

It is true that chance and the unpredictable are gifts to be reckoned with in the creative process.
