Give Yourself a Creative Makeover this Independence Day!

The 4th of July always puts me in the mood for an Independence Makeover.

Today is the day I  declare and re-affirm my creative independence to myself and from every other human whom I know (or not) who may have an opinion about my work, my creative process, and my art.

Join me and FREE yourself from:

  • I should
  • I want to
  • I need to
  • I could
  • I wish
  • I might
  • I hope

Words without creative action holds power over us.  Break the chains of wishing, hoping and wanting and just DO.  Create with abandon, without labels or worrying about being “good” or “bad,”  “right” or “wrong.”

Everything you imagine and create will lead you to your next inspired idea and vision – but only if you free yourself to imagine, play, win and fail.

Own your creativity.   Don’t allow anyone, anything, or any excuse to enslave you.  Don’t bargain with your creative freedom, just take it.   Live loud in the unique creative independence that is your birthright and where you, and only you, can shine.

I hope you enjoy my creative thoughts for hobbyists and crafters.  I post new blog thought entries every Monday, Tuesday, Thrusday, and Friday.  Wednesday’s are reserved for Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski’s guests and new creative personalities that you’ll want to know and learn about.  Of course, I sprinkle things happening on Pickle Road throughout the week.

I invite you to subscribe to this blog by clicking  the button on the left side of this post.  Also, why not share my posts with your creative friends and co-workers by clicking on any of  the share links?  If something really resonates with you, print it out and tack it to your bulletin board or tape it to the wall of your creative space, sewing or craft room as a gentle reminder that you can re-read!

As always, I love to hear about your creative life, wins and challenges!  Leave a comment here or email me at  Enjoy a wonderfully creative July 4th — stay safe.   And always do what you love! xoxom

Just the words I needed to read today. I’m working on a quilt for my guild’s show in August and had my usual doubts… thanks, my dear.

    Happy 4th Mark!!!

I just organized all those piles of papers (4 piles) I had on my desk for months now. It took me all morning and most of it went in the garbage! Now I can go play!!!

So bummed that I missed your show with Lyric. I took one of her classes (it was a 2-day class) and had such a good time. She too is very inspiring.

    Inspired and on a mission!

Marsha, did you listen to the podcast of the show with Lyric? It’s still on iTunes and on the (Creative Mojo) website for you to either download or just listen to! xoxom
