The other day, I got an email from a Facebook friend of mine, Wendy Hujsa, a long-arm quilter from Nazareth Pennsylvania. Wendy wrote that she had something to give me and wondered if I could meet her at my local quilt shop, Kindred Quilts, at 11:30 on Saturday morning.
I agreed.
Now what could she want to give to me? Was it the 30-something result of a night of anonymous passion in Paris in the 7o’s? Had I written something horrible about her and she wanted to blow anthrax in my pretty little face? Could it be yet more penis fabric (that every quilter, at one time or another, finds hidden behind some show vendor’s Civil War retros and scoops up a fat quarter of it for me)?
When I got to the quilt shop (a fashionably 7 minutes late, because some moron in a giant UPS truck couldn’t make a turn and got stuck in an underpass in, of all places, “HIGH Bridge”), there was Wendy, and Toby (the shop owner) waiting for me.
Let me digress for a moment ….
For those of you who follow me on Facebook, you know that I was just a little obsessed with Prince Wills’ royal icing wedding. So much so, that a Creative Mojo listener, “Wendy” arranged for her boss, who was travelling to merry old England, to pick up a Wills and Katherine commemorative dish towel for me. Mojo listeners might remember that I actually had “Wendy’s” boss on Creative Mojo, live, while I opened his gift.
Yup, you guessed it. That Wendy was this Wendy!
You might also remember that I was also obsessed — OBSESSED — with the wonderful hideousness of Princess Beatrice’s hat!
So taken with the chapeau that I had actually used Photoshop to paste my face into Bea’s body so that I, a master and guru of fine taste, could wear the hat myself.
I used this image as my Facebook profile picture for a month!
BACK TO THE STORY . . .
So, into Kindred Quilts I walk yesterday morning. Toby takes out her iPhone and begins video-taping my surprise from Wendy! Here is the video!
Watch This:
AMAZING!
Wendy had Beatrice’s gruesomely-GaGaesque hat digitized and then longarmed it onto fabric for me.
I am now the proud owner of a mini wholecloth quilt to be included in my Royals collection (yes, I collect commemorative royal towels and royal themed fabric, but of course).
Can you just stand it?
