So much of my blogspiration as been about how you can capture inspiration, harness creativity and offer encouragement through your creative process for yourself. But there is another, most important, part to enabling your unbridled creativity and inspiring your muse…
It is what you offer others. As a creative it is not only beneficial to your art and creative process to learn how to see and then tap into inspiration for yourself, but it’s also imperative that you learn how to inspire others as well.
Just like you have learned and integrated the art, styles, techniques and inspiration from those creatives who have gone before you, know that part of your own creative growth is knowing when and how to inspire those around you so that they can begin to experience new creative crests for themselves.
Becoming an inspiration to another creative is not necessarily a difficult calling but it does require a little self-realization.
To be creatively inspiring to others, you need to feel comfortable putting yourself out there, honestly exposed to the world. Honesty and openness with others allows you to be more authentic and available in your own art.
Inspire others by listening and allowing those around you to process their thoughts and words freely, without comment or judgment. When you listen to others, you learn more about yourself and your own creative process. With open ears, you become inspired while inspiring others as long as you keep the lines of communication open, transparent and personal.
Encouraging those creative’s around you is something you must do to boost your own creative mojo. Getting someone excited about his or her art excites you and stimulates your creative DNA!
Give up “Do as I say and not as I do” and turn it into “Practice what you preach.” The best way to inspire another artist (while gaining great inspiration and creative gifts in return) is to be steady and constant in your own art and follow your own dreams, your biggest dreams, without fear. This is an energy that feeds on itself. You dream big and so do those inspired by you, which in turn, inspires you to even greater creative aspirations and successes!
Don’t just become conscious of your surroundings and experiences and how they relate to your art (everybody does that), but become conscious and aware of how others see you and how they might experience your creativity and creative gifts. Be that creative personality who inspires those around you and watch your own creativity multiply!

I hope htat my blog inspires others. I also am teaching a sampler class and find that that is very fun and also a creative challenge. I hope to give people a little more knowledge of techniques so they can spread their wings and design on their own.

No way! Not puff paint! I use Pitt pens in different sizes and color in some bits with Pilot G-2 pens. The photo I sent you to was actually a bad example of my point. Sorry about that! I used a Pilot G-2 pen in my journal for this drawing. An example of what I really meant was: http://artquiltmaker.com/blog/2011/02/sketching-103/ or http://artquiltmaker.com/blog/2011/01/sketching-101/
I have a set of crayola water colors that are on my mind today.

I can’t with any sincerity managed to inspire a whole lot of people, but two of my friends I steered into the all natural toiletries world (one even got so hooked that she as a chemistry teacher set up special classes with in the chemistry subject and teaches high school girls how to do their own creams and make up. I try to be interested and encourage friends in their own creative life, but I have yet managed to enthusiast anyone when it comes to quilting 😉
But you Mark – you inspire us all!

I love this post, Mark! It is exciting to see how, when I move past my fear of sharing what I’m creating or my enthusiasm for what I WANT to create, how many doors it is opening up for me with other people. People I have known for years, and new people that are coming into my life. As I share my passions, they share theirs, and we all benefit from that in so many ways.
