Mixed-Media Artist, Teacher, Author

About SHERRILL . . .

Sherrill Kahn has been creating award-winning drawings, paintings and fiber art work for almost forty years. Her work can be found in many private collections throughout the world. She loves to weave, quilt, airbrush, bead, sew, knit, crochet, draw, paint and create with rubber stamps. In addition, Sherrill makes creative books, innovative jewelry and dolls, she paints and decorates every surface imaginable, and she constantly explores new materials and new techniques.

Sherrill lives by four simple words “Have Fun” and “What If?” In her latest newsletter, she writes, “I thought by turning 70 I might have more wisdom and act my age.  Well, it hasn’t happened.  I still act about eight years old.  I haven’t decided if this is a good thing or not.”

Sherrill taught for thirty years in the Los Angeles Public Schools, twenty-seven of which were at Palisades High School. She has also taught for University Extension programs and given lectures along with demonstrations to numerous art groups and organizations. Since leaving the public schools, Sherrill now teaches across the country and loves to share the sheer joy of the creative process with her students. She packs her classes with as much information as possible, taking “what if” to new heights. She is available for workshops just about anywhere!

Sherrill has been published in magazines and books related to fiber arts and rubber-stamping. Sherrill is also filming a video on creative art techniques.

Sherrill lives in Southern California with Joel, her husband of almost 33 years. They do everything together and he is her greatest friend and supporter. They love to travel and have been in almost every state and many foreign countries throughout the world. After retiring from teaching in the public schools, they started a rubber stamp company four years ago called Impress Me. Their designs focus on ethnic cultures and Southwest art. It continues to grow each year!

Sherrill’s vivid works showcase many different media!

I’ll be talking with Sherrill about her techniques and methods. And don’t miss her sumptuous books:

Nancy Pristine, also known as the “Happiness and Well-Being Ambassador,” is a radio talk-show host. Pristine empowers her listeners with her weekly radio show every Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Wifi 1460-AM in Central New Jersey and Philadelphia. The Nancy Pristine Show also can be heard around the world online at Every week Pristine interviews celebrities, luminaries and experts in their field. Her intention is to bring awesome information to listeners through her exceptional guests and to encourage them to never settle for second best again.

Pristine has been featured on television and radio and in many publications. In 2009 she traveled the United States on her “You Make the Difference” speaking tour. Through her training as a certified life coach and a neuro-linguistic practitioner, she helps people transform their lives from ordinary to extraordinary.

Nancy is the author of several books, including The Zen Game: How to Win at the Game of Life Without Selling Your Soul, The Victory Dance: Placing Yourself in the Winner’s Circle in Sports and in Life and Victory Dancing for Teens: Smooth Moves for Getting to the Winner’s Circle.

I’ll be talking with Nancy about her fab, motivational book, The Zen Game!

The Zen Game lays the groundwork for a refreshing return to winning in the truest sense of the word. When you win at the game of life, you live with respect, integrity and humility. Yes, you may win without these qualities, but if it comes at the price of selling your soul, in the end you will not have any real happiness or success!

Nancy knows!! And even better:

Ten percent of the proceeds of The Zen Game benefit the National Animal Welfare Society!

Quilt Designer, Author, Shopowner

About Karen…

Karen’s love of quilting started in 1997 when her sister dragged her into a quilt shop, firmly stating that she needed a hobby! Immediately hooked, Karen has been quilting, designing and teaching ever since!

She opened her first shop, “Spooling Around” in 1998. It was also in 1998 that Karen first began to receive recognition for her quilt making talents, a tradition that continues today!

Karen’s husband’s military career had them moving to WA State where she eventually opened a shop called “The Dancing Needle” where Karen continued to teach and foster the art of quilting through classes, retreats and shows.

Before her husband retired, the family had the opportunity to live in Italy for a couple of years. Inspired by the art and architecture, Karen began designing patterns. Upon their return to the United States, Karen successfully negotiated her first book contract. Better Together was published by Martingale & Co in February of 2010, and her second book, Prairie Point Pizzazz was just released in November of 2011 (more about THAT below!!).

Along with publishing two books, Karen designed and marketed a companion tool for the second book which is being carried in the US and Canada (see image at left).

Today, Karen shares her love of quilting and sewing through Trunk Shows, lectures, workshops and demo’s. She is teaching and speaking on both local and national platforms where her enthusiasm and love for this art form is both endearing and infectious!

Karen’s received numerous awards:

1998: 1st place Tidewater Quilt Show

1999: Merit Award Machine Quilter’s Showcase and Viewer’s Choice Machine Quilter’s Showcase

2001:  Best of Show Kitsap Quilt Show and 1st place Kitsap Quilt Show
