Pickle is Burning . . .

If you listened to Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski last week, you know that I almost burned down Pickle Road with an electric cup heater, while trying to boil water for tea, while I was on air.

Well, just in case you thought I was exaggerating, I wanted to show you the evidence.   Not only did the water boil out of the cup, but the actual electrical device began to melt — thus the smoke-filled studio!  I’m lucky I’m cute because otherwise I’m just just a hawt mess!

Pretty scary. Maybe you should stick with cold, pre-made tea from now on.

I’ve melted at least 4 tea pots on the stove. Put them on, then went outside, upstairs–whatever. Not good at all.

I heard this on the podcast and cringed. My job (so I can buy more fabric) is a Fire Prevention Specialist. We tell people to “Stand By Your Pan”. Hopefully, your smoke alarm beeped to let you know of the smoke…. Keep the batteries installed and change the device every 10 yrs.

Those water heaters are dangerous. My parents would take them with us on holiday to have a cup of tea in the room. Can’t tell you how many times we got our fingers burnt by touching the dopey thing. Toss the sucker and use a thermal cup! Be careful with those pinkies cupcake!

I knew there was a reason I hadn’t bought one of those things. Glad you didn’t burn the house down.

Hey there handsome !!! I’m glad that you are all right after your electrical incident. I went on a FABULOUS quilting retreat in Okoboji (Iowa) two weeks ago and had 2 days of classes with Debbie Bowles. When it was time to leave the building to go to the dining hall (3 blocks away), Debbie made sure we all unplugged our irons. As it turns out, Debbie had a house fire some years back, caused by a candle. We had a large collection of her quilts in the building, and she wasn’t taking any chances. I don’t blame her. On an positive note, Debbie taught classes where we sew with curves. I haven’t sewn a curve since my set in sleeve on a blouse in high school, and I’m not saying how long ago THAT was !! Really enjoyed the class, take one with Debbie Bowles if you can !!! Again, glad you are all right !!!! BE SAFE, CUPCAKES !!!
