First of all…
It felt terrific to be back behind the Creative Mojo microphone again after so many long weeks!
My comfortable chair was kept lovingly warm by my good and uber-talented friend, Nessa Reifsnyder!
Nessa, without hesitation, took the reins of Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski and did a phenom job as my substitute host-with-the-most, after my kidney transplant. Nessa, I owe you big time!
This week on Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski, I had a very special guest co-host with me. Most of you know her as Kidney Mary. To the rest of the world, she is Mary Cowap Eichler, and she is my life-saving kidney donor!
Mary and I talked about our surgeries and recovery! We both want to thank all of you for your cards, gifts, and support during our time away!

HOOKED RUGS OF THE DEEP SOUTH
JESSIE A TURBAYNE
Jessie A Turbayne is an internationally recognized authority on hooked rugs and the author of 8 books that are highly regarded by collectors as well as contemporary hooking artists. A Massachusetts resident, she teaches rug hooking and has specialized in the conservation and restoration of hooked rugs for over 25 years.
The book is almost 300 pages of color and inspirational spectacular! The tradition of rug hooking is alive and kicking in the Heart of Dixie. Through 844 images, meet the people behind these hooked rugs of art, including a Hollywood great that gave it all up to hook rugs in Georgia. Be incarcerated with Mississippi hookers at Jail House Rock. Visit a Tennessee home with an all rug-hooking dcor. Meet a Southern Tasha Tudor who is “the” expert on natural dyeing. Take a look back at rug hooking in rural Alabama between the two World Wars, and see what was considered elegant and all the rage in 1940s Louisiana. Rug patterns and original designs are also chronicled here: lush floral motifs, intricate geometrics, Oriental and Persian styles, impressionistic portraits, scenic landscapes, and glimpses of the Old South. This is a great reference book for all rug hooking enthusiasts, fiber artists, folk art lovers, collectors, history buffs, and lovers of anything Deep South.
Even my buddy, Bonnie, who is a quilter and not a hooker LOVED this book and was rendered speechless by the beauty and craftsmanship of the 844 rugs that are pictured!
