About Jennifer…
Jennifer’s connection to all things vintage forms the basis of her textile work. Jennifer has a way of reviving the old and adding a happy, modern spin. This approach can be seen throughout her various mediums of work. With unusual artistry, a love of texture, and a blend of vivid colors, Jennifer uses everyday inspiration, journaling, collaging, and materials from her past to cultivate new ideas and fabric designs.
“I try to design fabrics and items that help us share memories with those we love. My designs are rooted in the things I handled as a child,” says Jennifer. “The materials I choose, whether a vintage ornament or a simple cutout, elicit a memory from everyone who sees them,” she continues. “I love it when people call it ‘eye candy’ because that’s how I feel about it –it fills you right up.” Sis Boom’s fan base is worldwide and ranges from celebrities to traditional “crafty types” to Folk Art collectors. Jennifer’s collection not only boasts a plethora of fabric lines and PDF sewing patterns, but also two Chronicle published books, Girl’s World and Happy Home, as well as a line of home decorating products ranging from pillows and rugs to aprons and table linens.
The Sis Boom Collection, its name adopted from her childhood nickname given to her by her twin brother, defies easy categorization. With unusual artistry and a love of texture and a blend of vivid colors, Jennifer uses tag sales, flea markets and European sources as a starting point to create her art.

PAT SPETH
About Pat…
Pat Speth began quilting in 1988 when she purchased a wool quilt batting from her Grandmother’s auction. “I checked out a stack of quilt books from the library and fell in love with the patterns and designs, I knew I could not stop with just one quilt.”
Pat started working with 5 inch squares as a basis for her quiltmaking in 1993 after attending her first retreat. She was asked to do a program for her guild in 1997 using the 5″ squares, which gave her the push to explore new uses and techniques for working with the squares. Pat, while working a full time job, started on the book, Nickel Quilts in 1998 and was able to have it ready for the publishers in June 2001.
She loves teaching the methods for working with the 5″ squares, and sharing her quilts with others. After juggling her full time job and her quilting for many years, Pat moved into a full time quilting career in July 2003. “I have found my passion in life, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
Pat is currently working on her line of individual patterns, a Block of the Month Quilt, and has just finished her fourth book. Her newest release, Nickel Quilts & Borders , was debuted on April 19, 2010 and is available for purchase through this website or at your local quilt shop.
When she is not quilting (a rare and odd occurrence) Pat enjoys traveling with her two webmasters and children, Ray and Roxie, who keep her from getting lost in foreign lands. She lives in St. Paul, Minnesota.

About Hélène…
Hélène is a leading knit designer with a degree in textile and fashion. Her research into, and many publications about, Icelandic knitting traditions have earned her the respect of textile historians and museum curators throughout Iceland and around the world. Hélène believes that the best way to preserve traditions is to continue using them, giving them new life.
This is what lead her to found icelandicknitter.com, the first Icelandic online knitting magazine, inspired by tradition but with a modern twist. In the same spirit, she produces Love Story yarns, a range of artisanal yarns that make the best out of the Icelandic wool. She shares her extensive and deep knowledge in the knitting tours she organises in collaboration with Icelandic Mountain Guides where Icelandic traditions and culture, breathtaking nature and master knitting workshops, perfectly balance one another.
Hélène began her professional life as a lawyer in Paris before she made a complete life change and moved to Iceland, where she studied textile and fashion at Iceland Academy of the Arts and worked as a hired girl in a sheep farm and a mountain guide. The varied skills she learned in those early years richly inform the amazing hiking and knitting tours she now passionately guides. Her exclusive designs have been exhibited widely both in Iceland and elsewhere. She was featured as a significant contemporary knitwear designer in Iceland in Knitting around the world by Lela Nargi. She is the author of Icelandic Color Knitting: using Rose Patterns, a colorful book about traditional Icelandic intarsia and translated into many languages. Her two upcoming books, Icelandic Handknits, a collection of heirloom designs from the Textile Museum in Blönduós and The Icelandic lace dresses of Adalbjörg Jónsdóttir are eagerly anticipated by knitting experts and crafters all over the world, who adore Hélène’s unique style.
On today’s Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski, I get a chance to talk with Hélène Magnússon about her new book, Icelandic Handknits: 25 Heirloom Techniques and Projects.
Inspired by textile museum artifacts, Icelandic Handknits is a richly traditional collection of 25 mittens, socks, scarves, hats, wristwarmers, sweaters and shoe inserts. Serving as more than just a project book, it also covers various aspects of Icelandic culture – including geography, classic recipes and folklore.
