A Baptist preacher and a priest sat next to each other on a plane. When the flight attendant asked what they’d like to drink, the priest said he’d like a glass of wine. The preacher asked for a soft drink saying Christians should avoid alcohol. The priest said, “Jesus drank wine.” The Baptist said, “I know and I would have thought a lot more of Him if he hadn’t.”

it’s rustic, autumnal and classy.  Make your own wood and burlap, all natural, fall wreath with just a few items from around your pad.  I think this wreath would look great even throughout the snowy season, too!   Here’s how you make it:

This faux leaf table runner is funny and easy to make!!   I love the texture and I also love that it can be put together pretty quickly because it’s a ‘no sew’ project.  I, on the other hand would totally tack these leaves down onto the burlap.   Nothing says fall than a colorful leafy table runner.  Here’s how you make one:

This  Starry Migration quilt, made with Michael Miller Fabrics,  is the best, isn’t it?  Really easy to construct and the ‘unexpected weirdness’ of the design makes this piece an eye-catcher.  Note to Self:  Add something unexpected to your work.   Here’s the pattern:

We will never know what the handprinted rug is made with–link doesn’t work. Disappointing.

    Like your blog,

I too have been looking at the burlap runners, BUT I just can’t get over the smell of the burlap. What would happen if it were washed. Does the smell go away? Does it loose its stiffness?

Don’t forget that real jute burlap kind of falls apart when it’s wet. First I would try hanging it outside for a few days (out of the sun). I might also Fabreze it — GENTLY — to see if that does the trick. THNE, if desperate, I might hand wash the burlap very VERY gently with a dish soap (sew baste your edges by machine to prevent really hideous raveling), like Dawn, and see how that goes. While it’s drying, I would squirt it with Fabreze, then I would starch it with a good smelling starch like Mary Ellen’s. Let it air dry (outside in the shade). When ironing it flat, I would re-starch it with more Mary Ellen’s, see what happens.
