. . . or was she a Father’s Day gift?
She doesn’t have a name yet.
And Tulip doesn’t seem to mind a bit.
But how can there ever be a better pooch than Tulip?
Whatever her name is, she weighs about as much as the large frog in our pond and will only get to be about 5-6 pounds. Tulip is 8 pounds.
She is a long-haired Chihuahua. They are non-yappy and not nervous.
Viva Zapta!

Possible Names
Rose
Iris
Petunia
Daisy
Oooops, I mean DAISY
Hmmmmmmm. . . . Rosie, Iris, Petunia, and Daisy are all names that we’ve been playing with.
I kinda like Sally.
And you? What would YOU name her?
How sweet!! I like Petunia, not that I have a vote.

She is adorable! You lucky Daddy! I think staying in the flower family would be nice, you will have a furry bouquet! I think Petunia or Daisy would make a nice mix with Lilly and Tulip!

Mark she’s just precious! Congratulations, Dad! lol I think she looks like a Poppy to me the way her little ears unfold like petals. Then again she kinda has a rose petal tongue. Hey, maybe Petal would be a good name! Just my two cents. lol

How about Salvia, then you can give her the nickname Sally with no guilt for deviating from the floral theme.
There’s always Pansy, Marigold, Dahlia, Daffodil…..

Mark, She is adorable! She is a rose for sure, in my book at least. And how fun that Tulip doesn’t mind a new family member! My take on this is – Tulip is a flower that grows in the spring and rose is a flower for June and summer. So you would have a flower for each season (this allows you to look at names like Pumpkin for fall and Snow for winter if you add more dogs to your family- tee hee). Her sweet little tongue is going to give you warm doggie kisses and is so rosey pink that I think the name Rose (or Rosey) is meant for her. Whatever you call her she is just too cute!

She kinda looks like Gizmo from the movie Gremlins.
Sorry – couldn’t help myself.

Should I be offended or flattered that you like the name Sally for your new pup?? I guess it wouldn’t be my pick. I like the more unusual flower names. Two syllables are always best for calling a dog.

Honeysuckle! And you could call her Honey for short.

Mark,
What a darling gift!!! I would name her Salsa….

Petunia for sure! When I was first reading your blog, and read that Tulip didn’t mind, Petunia popped into my head… then I read a little more, and saw the names you were considering.
She is cute like a petunia…. and she could always be Tulip’s pet.
Mark, she is definitely adorable, whatever name she becomes. She is sure to blossom into a beautiful dog.

Mark she is adorable. She looks like a Petunia to me. (Don’t want to ruin your day but her relatives next door seem to me to be a little yappy.) Enjoy her!
Happily, this breed isn’t known for their yappiness, like their cousins, the short hair Chihuahuas. xoxom

I’ve always wanted to name a girl dog Lola so I could sing that old Kink’s song to her “L. O. L. A. Lola.” But Michelle’s suggestion of Paisley is great. Finally, I’d love a dog named Daisy, but since it is the MIL’s name, that will never happen…LOL

I would name her Peanut. She is no bigger than one and
could be a little salty with her attitude someday. 😀

Since you wanted to name her Sally, I agree with the suggestion of Salvia (staying in the floral range). The best of both worlds! And she certainly is a cutie!!

Hi Mark,
Is it your birhday???
I vote for Daisy. I think it is cute. Petunia reminds me too much of Harry Potter’s mean Aunt Petunia and Salvia looks too much like saliva (yuck) unless she’s a drooler!

by the way, she is a doll!

Completely deviating from the floral theme (which is certainly a great theme), I think Prudence is a good name. Pru for short. Or Dear Prudence if you are feeling Beatle-esque. No matter what you call her, she is an adorable ball of love and Tulip is lucky to have a new sibling to play with! Congratulations!

She kind of looks like an Ivy to me, probably cuz of the ears. Though I haven’t been known to keep to a theme when it comes to naming my furry friends. My lab is named Terra and my shi tzu is named Smeagol.

I saw this blog last night before bed and dreamt about naming this puppy all night — hehehe! Since she has a Mexican heritage but you are interested in staying in the flower type names, how about Rosa or Flora. I’m sure I thought of more names in my sleep but cannot remember them now that I am awake. Regardless of the name, she is certainly precious. Tulip will make a lovely big sister!!!

My sweet little boy is named “Foxy”. We live in foxhunting country and he looks like a mini fox, 6 lbs worth. Long hairs are the greatest. They love you to death. He loves to sleep on top of me. Mine is 1 year old and a rescue so he is really special and his older buddy is “Bear”, a solid black pomchi. Hair & tail like a pom and personality of a chihuahua. What a dog! Enjoy!
