Just got the call from my doctor and everything with the stress test is A-OK.
Next results due into the transplant team will be the Echocardiogram . . .
Colonoscopy rescheduled from tomorrow until this Friday. Blech. More of that drinking! xoxom

Mark, test results for the transplant team? Do we have good news or are you just being put on the list? Glad the stress test results were good! I bet you stressed them out big-time! 😀 Love and prayers still coming you way for you, Jeff and Evan, cause I know from experience that this is nervousing for the whole family! (Daddy was a transplant patient.) Good luck on the Echo and the Colonoscopy!

I had a gazillion medical tests to go through before I officially am placed on the transplant list, and I can seriously begin looking for potential donors. I have just one more result to be delivered to the transplant team, and one more test (colonoscopy) this Friday, then I’ll have more answers. They want to be sure that I am in good health for good transplant results. So far, so good . . . xoxom

Hey Mark! I am glad to see you doing this blog. Not only is it probably very therapeutic for you, but it keeps all your cyber-friends current. All sorts of positive thoughts are winging to you every time I read an update. You have a great attitude as, and they say dahling, “Attitude is everything.”

You’re in my thoughts everyday, and I’m sending positive energies your way- for you, Jeffery and Evan especially, as well as to all those who love and care for you. Your continued humor and positive attitude are an inspiration and will help make some of the hard days a lot easier.
I have all that yucky stuff for colonoscopy prep in my cupboard- a good colon cleanse is a healthy thing- so, on Thursday, I’ll get out the Citri-mag and drink it down cheering to your good health and joining in some of what you have to go through in support. I only know you through what I read on the internet and I have a ton of your gorgeous fabrics in my studio- but you’ve touched my heart many times, and I wish I could do more to help! Keep your humor going- you know the saying, Laughter is the best medicine!

So sorry to hear you’re going thru this shit! I have been thru it too, most of it at the Mayo Clinic, but have to still have tests here.
I have a hole in my heart, called a PFO, and have to have it closed surgically.
I’m also bleeding somewhere in my GI tract.

I think I would just not eat anything and only drink clear fluids, I dont think I could honestly drink any more prep.

When you mix the stuff up to drink, make sure it’s not a favorite flavor. Made that mistake when did my colonoscopy – will NEVER drink that flavor of Gatorade again.

As a former RN (had to quit at 39y/o, after an accident, and then havig the flu and dropping dead, going through a coma, loosing all those brain cells, etc…), and patient, I can only suggest you ask those who reschedule tests after preps if they would be willing to redo the prep with you! I personally believe ALL docs should have to have every test done to them, that they have their patients go through. I’ll bet they’d try a bit harder not to have you go through them! lol AND, they should have to know what each one of them costs, and they’d also be a bit more practical. For what it’s worth, if I stay dead the next time – you might have a chance at my kidney! lol I hear they went ahead and had my family sign off (I am an organ donor) on my organs. I felt a bit badly for anyone that had their hopes up only to discover God granted me a miracle.
Have you already had any of your relatives and friends tested? The good news with kidneys is that folks can give one and still live with the one they have left. I’m not saying it isn’t without risk (and actually more painful for the donor than the recipient), but sometimes people don’t realize that. This is the first time I’ve come across your blog – so you may have answered this previously. But, with as many folks whose lives you touch, perhaps there is someone out there, who would be a match, willing to give you that gift.
For what it’s worth, I have seen many successes, and one of our friends’ sons, just marked his first year anniversary with a new kidney last month. He had participated in the largest voluntary one ever done – in Baltimore. I wish I could remember the exact number of people who were involved – I think it was 16. The person who gave theirs to him, didn’t really “have” to, because the recipient who he was actually giving it for, came down with the flu and couldn’t participate – but he gave it anyway. When these large ones are done, it matches folks with family members and friends who are willing to give a kidney, but are not a match for their loved one. So, they pair up with someone who is and they get matched up with another…. . The loved one doesn’t get their relative’s or friends’ kidney – but they get one nonetheless, because they match someone who is willing to do the same – and sometimes, it may be 2-9 or more people apart. i.e. Donor 1 (husband of Recipient 5) gives Recipient 4 his kidney, Donor 10 (friend of R. #6) gives R. #5 his, D #4 (wife of R#1) gives hers to R#1, and D#2 (friend of D#10) gives it to R#5, etc…. Does that make sense? You may also see about getting involved with something like this.
I will add you to my prayer board and I also pray that you become even closer to Him than you ever thought possible. There are definitely good things that can come out of experiencing things we perceive as being bad things…I’ve experienced and seen several…and believe Romans 8:28 with all my heart. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns about transplants and/or tests, etc. I am now writing a book, which still needs a title, but will help health care recipients and their loved ones learn to navigate the health care system and learn what they and others can do to help each other during chronic illness. I very much value the input of anyone who has faced a life-changing illness. As much as I thought I knew after practicing for 20 years, I still had so much to learn when I realized we don’t do much for those with chronic conditions in our society to help them or even know how to help. And then, there are those lessons I learned that I knew as “head knowledge” become quite different when they became “heart knowledge.” May you continue to grow in your journey…

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck. I received a kidney from my sister 10 1/2 years ago. It was an amazing experience that was the beginning of a new life for me. Life is sweeter and time with my family more precious. Just last Saturday I was able to see my daughter married to a great guy and felt so blessed to live in a time and place with the knowledge that allows me to have this wonderful life. Anti-rejection medicine is not always easy to deal with but it beats the alternative! My thoughts and prayers are with you!
