Mark on A New Creative Direction

If you’re feeling creatively blocked or uninspired then it might be because, like everyone else, you keep doing the same old thing over and over again and in the same old way. If you’re bored and uninspired just imagine how your work is affecting everyone else!

If today is one of those days where your art, craft or hobby feels contrived, repetitive and flat, make now the time that you strike out in a new direction.  Stretch beyond what is creatively familiar to you and pump up the volume.

It doesn’t’ mean you have to re-invent the wheel.  It simply means that you might need to stand back, take a deep breath and figure out what you need to integrate into your creative process that will take you, soaring, to new creative and imaginative heights.

Add a bead, make something lopsided, cut your project up into pieces and sew or glue it back together.  Just stop making your art the way you’ve always made it.

There is an old saying that if you if you keep doing the same tired thing you will continue to get the same tired results.   Makes sense doesn’t it?

Push yourself.  Be elastic.  Open your imagination. Reach for the creative stars!

    Mark,

When I did my book signing at Quilt Market in April, C&T Publishing gave out these Inspiration! creativity cards to the people in line for my book. As people handed me their cards to collect their books, I read the cards aloud. I thought they were terrific.
